Question upgrading

I need to update my cideo chip in order to play elder scrolls: oblivion...here's the link for the system requirements

http://www.elderscrolls.com/games/oblivion_faq.htm

I'm running a dell deminsion 3000 which has a low stocked video card, and it only takes pci cards. what pci card can I buy that will work with this game?

I can safely say that you will not enjoy Oblivion in the least bit with that computer since it will only take PCI video cards. Even with an x800 or a 6800gs, I imagine you would still only be able to run that game a 800x600 or 1024x768 and still maintain enjoyable visuals. And those are for AGP and PCI-E only.

We're talking about possibly the most demanding game on store shelves today, that still can't be maxed out at the highest resolutions.

Any computer will support a large-screen monitor, even with a 4MB video card.

Sure there are many cards that will work with the game. But, most are PCI-E, and some are AGP. You can't put either one in your computer. You can buy an x1300 and try, but I think a game like that will just look like a slide-show.

I agree with the above posts. I have an AGP card and Oblivion still runs ~3 FPS in high demanding areas. I, however, looked up on Newegg some of the best PCI cards avaliable:

Here's the list of all of them

I would recomend this one:

Its the cheapest (& vista ready) But unless you have at least a mid/high end graphics card you will get noticably slow FPS rates at very most!

Listen mate, they are right. If you've got the money I suggest investing it in a nice new up to date computer.
