That's a pretty nice setup.

ya, bought it used for $375 minus the 5770 last year - maybe 18 months ago. Before I had the confidence of building a rig myself. Then shortly afterwards I build my rig - that has the 560ti (448core) , then we build my oldest boys rig with a AMD 6850 gpu, all 3 have i5 2500k CPU's.

375? Wow. Last year in Feb I bought a 2500k system used for 600 bucks. Well now that I think about it, without the GPU it would have been more.

2500k
Biostar P67a board
8GB RAM
Asus 5850
Corsair HX850
OCZ Vertex 2 120GB
1TB Samsung F3
CM HAF922
Corsair H50.

I put my GTX 465 in instead, and a few months later grabbed a GTX 580 for 450 bucks like an idiot. Now that I list off the parts, I realize why I bought that rig lol.

ok nearly ready to pull some triggers. R9 280x for $300 is pretty unbeatable. Questions are that the new egg and the manufactures sites list "required" PSU's to be a 750 watt PSU - some of the video cards say they need 2 x 8 pin power connections and other ones say one 6 pin and one 8 pin. I have a OCZ 600 watt modular = one 6 PIN and one 6 PIN +2 . My son has a Corsair 650tx enthusiast series = 2 x (6 +2) . Both of us seriously thinking of purchasing the R9 280x either the HIS , the MSI or the ASUS. But, if these PSU's will not power them properly - then whats the point.

BOth systems have a i5 ( 2500K) CPU and decent MOBO's.

R9 280x is 6+8. Both PSUs will be fine.

Thanks, i do have another system that has a corsair 850. BUT I am glad it will not be necessary to switch stuff out. No to shop and wait for any black Friday deals on these - probably not , but maybe a general coupon or something. Look at newegg, tiger, Micro, amazon, etc. Prefer Newegg - but they are out of stock on several of the 280x.

I would use the 850 over the OCZ any day.

ya, it is a pure laziness situation. Need to switch out the OCZ 600 watt from my newest build and put it in the older PC that has the Corsair 850 watt. The older build only runs a 5770 GPU - so the 600 watt OCZ is amble. Gives me a great reason to get into these cases, check the fans, clean the dust, etc.
