Default PSU Questions

Hey guys,

I need a power supply for my custom built system, but I'm really confused and not sure what to go for. I need a fair bit of wattage for the spec I'll be running, but I'm getting confused when it comes to the amperage on the rails.

I'm told that for the latest graphics cards you'll need at least 24A for the +12V rail(s). I'm thinking of buying a GeForce 7800GT so I'm not sure if that means I'm going to have to splash out a lot?

Can anyone recommend a PSU for me?

I bought this Hiper R type 580W PSU its awesome and perfect for what you are looking for. And it has 24 pin and the extra 12v 4 pin connector u need.

2. No
3. Just the one SATA for the moment
4. United Kingdom (sorry, makes it a bit more difficult )

I am from UK. Did you like the PSU that i recommended?
The best places to buy in UK www.ebuyer.com or www.scan.co.uk
Scan does a 'today only' section so if you check there each day they might have it there. Check em out.

Can I just check what people think of this?

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...uct_uid=102994

Yes, it is VERY cheap, but don't forget that it has been manufactured by the sellers themselves.

The specs are...

+3.3v = 28A
+5v = 35A
+12v = 30A
-5v = 0.5A
-12v = 0.8A
+5vsb = 2.5A

...which make it sound very good. Is there a catch here?
