Problem booting windows

Hi guys. I have a big problem. I bought a new hd to install windows xp on, and my comp keeps saying no boot device found. I have a dell xps 410 and have tried reordering the boot sequences of devices, reconnecting wires, and banging my head against the wall, and I can't fix it. Can someone help me?

did you take out the hdd(s) that were inside already and replace it with the new hdd?
