PCI came out first, thats the only slot the video card came in, so they were really good like 8 years ago or whatnot i dont really know, then AGP started to come out, with newer and better video cards. SO PCI was still there but started to age and they quit making PCI video cards, and only AGP cards. Now PCIE16 is out, and now they are stop making AGP cards and only making newer and better PCIe16 cards. and now PCI is usually used for just sound cards, network cards, and some video cards if you have a dell or something

"Good" is a bad term to use to describe PCI video cards. Rather, compared to AGP and especially PCI-E, they are very limited. That's why we don't recommend them unless we have to.

The reason for the move to different types PCI > AGP > PCI Express, is because of their transfer rates. PCI is 1x, AGP was 2x, then came the 4x, followed by the 8x. Now theres PCI Express which is 16X. The new advances made in video cards require the faster transfer from processor, ram, and video card. So they were "good" when PCI video cards were the only type available LoL.
