Default Network Adapter Problems

I've been using the network adapter (NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller) attatched to my motherboard (lanparty) but lately it's failing on me. After only 10 minutes of being connected to the internet, the connection drops and is only restored after I restart the computer. I even updated the drivers, which didn't change the problem. Would getting a new seperate network adapter help? They seem relatively cheap, I'm willing to buy one pretty soon, before my internet connection drops again...
thanks for your help,
