Default better setup...

Which of these two would be a better setup:

7600GT and 1GB DDR SDRAM


6600GT and 2GB DDR SDRAM

oh, my processor is an AMD Athlon 3500+.

You will be able to upgrade to 2GB in the future if you would want

I agree, the 7600GT and 1GB RAM would be better.

also, get just one stick of 1GB if you intend to expand it to a 2GB in a short time, otherwise you'll just waste money... cuz 2gb when its 1gb x 2 sticks will perform a lot better than 2gb made by 512mb x4 sticks.

I mean 6600GT = 120 dollars
7600GT = 134.

7600GT + 2GB = awesome gaming experience lol

for a short while he could live w/out dual channel if he is planning to get the other 1gb stick sooner or later.

He should get a corsair matched pair this will sound stupid but can you can buy it separetly buy one now and the other one when you got the money.
