Default Adding RAID drive to existing hard drive?

Can you add a RAID1 to an existing hard drive? How does all of the pre-existing info on the HD get transferred over to the RAID drive.

Can't, if you already have info on 1 drive it will be erased when you create the array. (I Think).

You can back up the data, then create the array. Which would involve reformating both HD's and reinstalling windows.

Actually I think if you're creating a RAID 1 (mirror) you can do it with a hdd that already has info on it.

well that is exactly what I'm trying to do. Any more info? I guess backing up and formatting to do the raid install isn't too bad, but can't be good for the HD to format.
