These are the basic expectations for which we will try to meet for everyone who needs our help.

Here at TF we will give you a professional response and instruction for your situation custom tailored to your needs as a Malware victim.

We will try to acknowledge every new post within a 24 hour period.

Your post will be read in detail, and we will make every attempt to “put ourselves in your shoes”

If you have a question, we will make every effort to answer that question; however we may wish to get the system clean first. If you feel your question has not been adequately answered, simply in a polite way, rephrase and repost the question to kindly remind us after you have received instructions for how to clean your computer.

Please understand that we may ask you to duplicate an action you might have done already. This may include running SpyBot S&D, Adaware SE or even rebooting the computer. Please keep in mind this is not an insult. As a technician attempting to achieve a solution we must sometimes recover the basics in a step by step process to ensure that everything is done correctly and in order with the most up to date tools. This is to your benefit, and in no way is to imply that you donÂ’t know what youÂ’re doing.

When you receive instructions of any kind, please be sure to follow them to the last detail. Any changes to the registry, if not done properly, can damage a system. Many tools available for the removal of Spyware, Malware and Trojans are very powerful and very in depth. HijackThis for example must be picked through by a trained expert due to its power. Many if not most entries in HijackThis are safe and can render your system completely useless if removed. For this reason we also wish to protect the backup files created by HijackThis, for your safety, this is why we may ask you to move HJT from a temp folder to another location on your hard drive.

Exact directions will be given step by step. As a large number of our users are novices at the computer please understand that we use very similar speeches for everyone and it’s intended to be at a very basic level. If you have been working with computers long enough to know about regedit or how to clean your temp files then just consider our detailed instructions for “the greater good”

Please do not post your log or ask for assistance in anyone elseÂ’s post. It can be very dangerous no matter how close in topic they may be to give instructions for two computers and/or two users on the same thread!

These logs take some time. IÂ’m sure you expect to be given correct instructions for the complete removal of any infection we may find on your computer. Others in need of help expect the same. We are not being rude or pushy when we say wait your turn. We will try to respond quickly to your post, and acknowledge you, however your log will be read and instructions will be given in turn. This is based on a first come first serve, with the possible exception of an emergency case.

This section of TF is moderated by Southernlady and DMo224. While all of our Security team is very qualified and capable of helping you, please take anything said by our Mods seriously, they know what they are talking about. While they are very attentive to the needs of TF members please do not PM Southernlady DMo224 or any of our Security team every day trying to get your log pushed up, this will not speed things up for you! As things can get very busy please reserve PMÂ’s for legitimate questions and comments that can not be posted in your thread.

Thanks for your patience

When you post a HiJack Log and get instructions from a log reader on what to fix, if you haven't responded to the instructions posted by a log reader within a week, the post will be closed and moved to the HiJack Logs (finished) forum.

Then to get it reopened, you will have to PM Dave or I with an explanation as to why you need it reopened and why you were unable to respond to the previous instructions.

This will allow the log readers to work on the logs that really want help.
Liz
