Go ahead and attach it. After XP recognizes it, reboot, then scan it with AVG

Scanned it with AVG and removed all of the found threats.
I can access and copy the shared documents, but I cannot access the documents in my own login, so I'm not sure how I could back them up...

Got it. Everything has been transferred and ive installed windows on the original drive and reinstalled most of the programs that I want. Currently reformatting my external drive, then my computer setup will be virtually back to normal. Last night I ran an AVG, malwarebites and spybot scan and nothing came up, as I expected.
