Nexus DampTek® is the latest development in noise absorption material. Our engineers searched the market for the most recent developments in noise absorption and isolation. The materials we found the most effective, to isolate and absorb frequencies coming from your pc components, were combined to create Nexus DampTek®. Nexus DampTek® consist of a 1.5 mm barrier mass to isolate the noise and a 6 mm foam layer to absorb the multiple frequencies.

I had a 2 year old machine that was making lot of noise!!

I tried cleaning the fans but that didnÂ’t make much of a difference.
I tried some stuff from www.mutemat.co.uk, and that made quite a difference.

Decided to go a step further and replaced the CPU and case fans for SilentX fans. Now itÂ’s almost totally silent!

The Hard disk still makes quite allot of noise, can any one recommend a good HDD that is reliable and quiet???

Also any one else used mutemat or SilentX fans???

Seagate HDD's are known for bieng quiet, ive used one in a external HDD i put together and its almost silent. A friend of mine has a Western Digital which is quite good but slightly noisy. Same with my Maxtor. Not sure about Samsung.......

OK, all these 'silent' case fans that people are posting are nothing compared to these, the maximum amount of noise generated by any of the fans is 14dba, with 11dba versions available. They are made by silenx and are supplied with anti vibration mounts and cable adaptors.

I've got the same problem with a home built machine. It's amd based if that matters. My brother has a dell with a intel inside and it is slilent. You can't even tell it's on if it wasn't for the little blinking hdd light. That's what I am trying to achieve.

funny.... I just put one of the 3 machines inside a cabinet (office funiture/desk thing).... I had to drill ventilation holes in the back... it stays about 93ish degrees inside the cabinet, with the door cracked opened slightly.

BUT its almost silent....

I wish I could do the same for my other two :)
