What You've Just Bought!

Re: The What You've just Bought thread!

Apple probably could have used a high grade aviation aluminum frame. I think they saw bigger profits from going cheaper materials at the factory in China, and the consumers are paying for it

Yup...they paid for a high grade aviation aluminum frame but all they got was some kind of a gel frame

Solution: Phones made of steel. Solid. Steel.

Turns out the frame is actually reinforced with titanium and steel. So there.

I was about to make a point about yuppies and expensive things like a Rolex but I stopped and lold at myself because iPhone.

Eh ? I would like to know whether you classify Rolex and Omega watches as well made.

If you don't we clearly have VERY different ideas of what constitutes a well made product.

Where's the specs on that?

This states that Apple did use some stainless steel but obviously, not enough and not in the right places

Hmm I'm still not for a apple phone apple ipad, still easy to break and end up coughing up 200+ to get the lcd and possibly mobo fixed. :/

MICROSOFT XBOX S9F-00001 X360 WIRED CONTROLLER - Newegg.com
I bought this a few days ago my mini xbox360 controller finally came apart on me during a pvp match.
With big hands such as mine I hope it last for a "LONG" time sick of buying controllers that fail every which way possible.

LG Internal Super Multi Drive SATA Model - GH24NSB0B - Newegg.com
Bought this for a customer of mine, received the package yesterday no sata cord ? o0

Why is newegg not including a sata cables with their drives ?
If I hadn't any spares when I got my hdd last christmas and now I'd would be one very angry hombre. -_-

Maybe they mean they used an alloy instead of reinforcing it?

Step 22 shows the inside of the back:

If they would have put some steel ribs it could have made it more resilient I'd think, to combat the amount of force it required to bend.

They've never included SATA cables with OEM drives. You need to buy the 'Retail' boxed version to get SATA cables included.

Edit: Joe beat me to it.

Re: The What You've just Bought thread!

It looks like they were counting on the battery to give it structural strength and that didn't happen...I agree everything is just too flat to prevent it from bending

I honestly have no idea since I've never had a Rolex in my hands before hence the joke. The most expensive watch I've ever had was a 500 or so dollar Citizen watch that was my dads and I wore it all the time.

The definition of well made is different to people with different perspectives. You want to say the iPhone has excellent build quality and your previous argument was consistently only stating the metal vs plastic. My whole point in even bringing it up was the fact that it's metal and still didn't hold up. I had even said previous that just because it's metal doesn't mean the build quality is so super fantastic. The M8 is a prime example of good build quality, and the water proof Z2 is another prime example of excellent build quality. I tried explaining to you before that your assumption of metal being a premium feel is simply your personal preference to what feels premium in your hand. It doesn't equate to good build quality. Something that is actually physically built well will preserve under pressure. The M8 being another prime example with its excellent frame build quality.

Re: The What You've just Bought thread!

I still have my old Note 2 at home. So when I get home I will film a bend test of that just like people are doing with the 6 Plus.

It will be interesting :p I expect it will bend fairly sigificantly but also bounce back

As for the M8, isn't it a metal unibody construction... just like IP4, 4S, 5, 5S, 6 and 6+ ?

Re: The What You've just Bought thread!

It is. But I feel because of the curvature it's less prone to the bends

Though I do believe the screen popped out during that bend test video I watched earlier today
