Potentially the longest thread in history...

Because the site hasn't been updated in so long.

Getting annoyed that I have to keep having to disable HTTPS Everywhere on TF. Here is literally the only site I use regularly that doesn't have SSL/TLS implemented.

I don't understand this. Why do you have to keep disabling it. What has it got too do with SSL\TLS being implemented .

Am am missing something.

I use HTTPS Everywhere all the time and I have never changed the default settings ever let alone disabled it.

I normally have HTTPS Everywhere set to "Block unencrypted requests"; I have to disable that for TF.

SSL/TLS is the protocol used to encrypt web connections - the S in HTTPS stands for SSL (HTTP over SSL)

"Block All Unencrypted Requests" is not something I have ever enabled. But then again I have my VPN incorporated in to my network manager and thus that by default, is disabled for security up on boot.

I have to manually connect the Ethernet with the VPN what I set up threw the CLI in Nix*

EDIT: Ask you a question: Why you on the forums so late like Yami. I've never seen you on this late before. This is my normal time, for me anyways but I thought you were an early bird. Job, GF, Commitments ECT:

Are you working night shift tonight.

Souls normally on at this time. :D ..

I've been trying to get OSX's tagging functionality implemented in windows for the last few days, managed to get everything working so far except the very last part; presenting the tagged files to the users. It has to have elements of both soft and hard links, e.g act as if it is the file, except for if the path is involved in which case the originally tagged file should be copied/opened/etc.
Just like the results of a normal windows serach, but I'm not sure how to pass windows search a list of files and fake it into thinking it got those results, not sure how to duplicate or otherwise get around this yet either.
Best interim solution I've so far found is to create a folder with symlinks to each tagged file, not perfect but better than nothing :/

I'm relying heavily on Void Tool's Everything search service, I'm loving it even more now I've found you can setup an "Everything" search server, setup multiple indexes, is addressable at the command line and has a powershell module (PSEverything) so using it in scripts is a breeze.

Well, that's Ubuntu LST Server installed on two individual systems ready for what comes next. Not sure if I wanna put a LDM on it and run BOINC for SETI or use them as file server.

Installed BOINC on 5 systems last night. Set up individual systems with given account for SETI and BAM. Jobs a Gud'un ..

So, I was called out on an emergency call Saturday for a store with a down server. I received the call at 12:19pm so I punched in, drove back home and got my company vehicle and equipment, and then hightailed it four hours to the store. The server could get into safe mode but that was the best we could get. I worked with Support to pull some Acronis backups but all of them bluescreened as well. We ended up using a generic server image and rebuilding it. Yay for a 15.75 hour day that ended at 4am Sunday.

Guess what popped up this morning? Same store, same server. Seriously WTF! This was the fourth time in three months.

This time we just started with the generic image. Once we had it up and the POS system updated I captured and image of the drive and have it on my external drive in my car. Today ended up being only 14.25 hours but ended at 10:45pm.

It is times like these that I seriously consider going back to driving a forklift...

Sodded up at work. Caused the VP of our entire group of companies to be late to a meeting (not really my fault, but **** slid down directly on top of me). Fortunately I'm new enough that I think I've been forgiven. I mean, I've already been given the telling off, but I think that's all for now.

Looked into how much DevOps guys with cloud (Azure, AWS, etc.) experience make...it's bananas. I'm glad I'm leaning more towards DevOps in my current role more, and also learning cloud stuff. Granted...I won't be able to get near the same amount compared to where I currently work (yay government jobs). But...makes me marketable in the event I do decide to look for another job.

Recently had an opportunity to become a Cloud Support Specialist for AWS (which I bombed due to idiocy). That would have started at 6 figures.
