Got this from our security team today

I figured as much - but friends\mykids do think that if they do a "incognito" tip of browser they cant get maleware, etc. =so now - since it is NOT coming from me - maybe they will listen.

Like office said, any browser you load with add-ins is going to get bogged down eventually. I just prefer Firefox because of "NoScript". I run that in conjunction with AdBlock-Plus.

you should disable adblock on the websites you visit the most, otherwise your kind of stealing info from the website without paying for it, they have to host servers etc.

I disable it on my regular websites like this, maxpc, pcgamer, pandora, and a bunch others.

The main website that I leave it on is for youtube... I don't really feel too bad about that because they have all my info from gmail and my browsing habits which they will make money off of.

support the websites, dont steall info from them!

I would do that, except I don't want the occasional spyware ad slip up infecting my PC. As per above, common sense browsing 2.0.

@acer just have to teach them properly or make it so they lose a bunch of important information next time they get infected. I learned the hard way when I was like 15 and ever since then the common sense browsing is my motto.

I learned the hard way when I was around 14 as well; accidentally downloaded one of those auto-sending messages over MSN "omg look at this funny picture!" kinda thing. Ran it... and boom. Had to have my brother reformat the computer for us since I didn't know what I was doing at that time lol.

support the websites bro, also I forgot do you run an antivirus?
I use MS security essentials and CSM2.0 :) Malwarebytes for scans every now and then.

Yea, because of the way I do things I don't need to. Websites get enough cash from other users as I'm sure not everybody uses adblock. I find it funny how Adblock has increasingly becoming the topic of "evil" on the internet when it's been around for about 5 years now.

Funny thing is, the sites I would actually turn it off for, don't even have ads. Like TF. Other sites it's a complete necessity because some of their ads are loaded with junk and are so invasive that it makes browsing the site almost impossible. One such site I can think of is an Xbox360 site I used to frequent back when I was into modded consoles. Yet they complained constantly about adblock users decreasing their revenue.

IMO on the topic it works multiple ways. I would be less paranoid about running with it off if I could trust site admins would make absolutely sure each ad on the site is clean. Thing is, they don't. Further on that, some sites don't even care what type of ads are being broadcasted and I don't want to be browsing with dick enlargement ads or whatever on the side. Even worse, porn. I have children in my house. Then of course if the sites that had a ridiculous amount of ads toned it down to a respectable level more people wouldn't want to block them. Another point somebody on LinusTT mentioned, sometimes they get paid anyways and other sites you actually have to click them.
