Cable Modem

When I first got my Cable Modem I asked the internet provider to come and install it, not that I couldn't install it myself, but just to make sure nothing went wrong. Well three years have passed since then and I was wondering if were to get a new internet provider could I install the cable modem myself or could anyone install it themself. How easy or hard is it to install a cable modem?

when you order cable internet; unless you've got their tv too, theres more to just splitting a line and plugging in a cable modem. the installation technician will connect the lines (or make sure there connected) on the pw line outside your house. he will also wire coax into the home if its not done already and plug it into the the supplied cable modem, then check/report in your current ip. see, if you disconnect service they obviously would go back to the power line and disconnect the cable service. for that reason, you would need them to show up and "install" it for you.
