Help with The GIMP & Tranparency

I'm using the Gimp and what I want to do is to edit out a part of an image and make it transparent behind it. I have that part done and I have the transparency behind it but when I go to save it as a .jpg I get a message that says .jpg doesn't support tranparency. I need to save it as a .jpg. Is there anyway I can save it as a .jpg and still have the transparency?

JPEG doesn't support it. GIF does and PNG does somewhat (may get green tinge)
