Rumor: Mac Pro to Get Xeon Gulftown Six-Core CPU
MacRumors had a little birdie tell them that Intel's upcoming six-core Gulftown Xeon processor will be used in a Mac Pro revision in early 2010. No word on possible costs but the rumors are believed credible since iMacs are using Core i7 CPUs already.

When placed in a dual-processor configuration, this would give the Mac Pro 12 physical and 24 logical cores. Such massively multi-core designs have been expected for some time with under-the-hood changes in Snow Leopard specifically preparing for such a possibility.
