Does your ISP have their own DNS?

Try moving 4.2.2.1 up to primary and 4.2.2.2 as secondary.

Or try a different DNS server.

Just select "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" from the adapter TCP/IP properties.

when I use automatic settings, I get limited of no connectivity.

when I assign an IP address, dhcp settings revert back to no.

That would mean DHCP server was disable on the router.

Revert back to no? normal? meaning still can't ping www.google.com but can ping the IP address of it? I'm telling you it's the DNS server, did you even change it to something else?

Go and look at the router WAN status or DHCP status for the ISP, you'll find the DNS server for your ISP. Change it to that rather than using the 4.2.2.2

I am leaving the network unsecured. This is the only setting that seems to work. Once secured, the laptop does not want to connect to the internet.

Law, I thank you for all your help. If this was 4 months ago, we could have went for a beer. I just moved to CA- originally from NYC.

Well, if you're going to leave it open, you might as well add additional security to it.

Disable SSID broadcast, MAC filtering, IP filtering, Disable DHCP....etc
