trying to set up network

i need a link to a good set of directions on how to set up two computers in a network with a crossover cable.i need it to tell me how to set up all the ip addresses and all of that stuff.

both systems are running win xp on them

Then just make sure netbios is enabled on both pc's, that both have the guest account activated and that none of your firewall settings are inhibiting connectivity. Go into tcp/ip properties on your lan connection, then input ip in manually and choose, 192.168.0.1 for the first one and 192.168.0.2 for the second. Then their subnet should both be set to 255.255.255.0, leave other setting blank.

Ping the pc's and see what result you get.
