Hello!
I am trying to understand the concept of static routing.
I have 2 routers which are both capable of static routing tables, but I am a little confused about the actual routes that I need to input into these routers in which to set these up. The brand name of the routers shouldn't make a difference. I'll figure it out from an operational standpoint...but I am more concerned with what I input into what router. Currently, my setup is like this:
I have a Cable Modem -> First Router
First Router goes to a single computer (192.168.1.100)....
It also goes from a LAN port (2) to a second router's WAN port.
The second router has a connection to another computer (192.168.2.100)
Ok....here is my setup.....my ONLY goal is to ping the 1st computer from the 2nd computer.
First router (WAN IP ADDRESS: 66.x.x.x (security puposes) )
LAN IP ADDRESS: 192.168.1.1
First computer: 192.168.1.100
Second Router (WAN IP ADDRESS: 192.168.1.105) It gets this from the first router via DHCP (LAN IP ADDRESS: 192.168.2.1)
Second computer (192.168.2.100)
My ultimate goal is to ping 192.168.1.100 from 192.168.2.100. I know that it can be done through static routes. But how do I set this up?
By the way, both computers are able to access the internet. So I know that these are setup correctly. Just a matter of getting from inside one router to the next?
Thanks a million in advance!
