I am just wonering what makes the internet slow at home network? All my computer are off and 1 i am using normally download at 17kbps but at times like just now it's downloading at 7kbps from the internet.

what could b the reason?

-lots o people online/downloading
-server ur downloading from is slow/under heavy load
-there are thousends of bottlenecks
-you ISP could be blocking something
-some other program is downloading like antivirus

and lots of other reasons

check for spyware. This seems to be very high on the list of "whats slowing down my connection." Spyware progs are constantly communicating with their home servers which is eating your bandwidth- thats the simple explanation but should give you an idea of what could be going on. But like major said there really are thousands of bottle necks. If you are on cable your neighbors that are also using cable can possibly slow yours down a little bit if there are a lot online at the same time.
