Router stops working frequently

Every few minutes, internet access on all computers connected to my netgear G router is cut off. During this period, I cannot ping the router or any other devices on my network, I cannot access the router config panel, I can't access the internet. However, all deviced remain connected to the network.

This lasts for 1-2 minutes then everything is restored to normal. I have no idea what is going on. I initially though it was caused by interference, but I've had that problem before and it would kill the network completely(all devices would disconnect and the SSID would stop broadcasting). I could be wrong though.

I would really appreciate some help on this.

how old is your router? I've never liked netgear, preferring CISCO products *i.e. linksys*, and you can pick up fairly inexpensive WRT-G routers such as the Newegg.com - LINKSYS WRT54GL IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless-G Broadband Router - Wireless Routers. oldschool and extremely reliable
TBH it sounds like it's going out. infrequent "blackouts" like you experience are the reason I got rid of my last netgear router

Try to update the firmware to the newest you can find.

If its getting old, it could be dieing.

Do you p2p? That can clog ip tables and act things up.
