I live in an apartment and I share my internet connection with others. Now some time ago me and a friend did a test to determine what is slowing down the computer. So we reset the router and my friend turned his computer on after he determined that his connection was not any faster. In the mean time I turned my computer on and after that he said that his internet connection was faster. One of the reasons I thought of would be that the router allocated the primary channel to his computer and the rest got lesser ones and that is why his internet connection was faster. Any way what do you think? People are complaining about slow internet. Would a better router solve this?

Packet sniffer, find out what packets are going where using what transfer protocol.

Someone might be leaving their bit torrents seeding after they are done by accident. Seen that happen.

Upload bandwidth really sucks with cable. (Usually)
