My dad just got me about 600 feet of cat6 cable from his office. and I had to put the connectors on myself with a crimping tool. This proved to be quite the task since 2 of the wires were the same colors and it is the round kind.

Ok so the problem. I got the cat6 to the right lenth(like 60 feet) and crimped both ends with the tool so they have the rj45 connector. I then checked the continuity on both ends and there were no shorts or crossed wires at all. BUT WHY WONT IT WORK? I plugged it into my router and the other end to my xbox. The green LAN led on the back wont light. It just doesnt work. Though my 25 foot cat5 works just fine(got off e-bay premade).

Is it because this is a cat6? I thought it would be compatable. I have tried it in 2 routers and made sure it is not a problem with the port it was plugged into. So where is the problem? Is it my xbox or my router that is not compatible with the cat6?

If you plug the cable from your router to a pc, does it light up?

Also, continuity is good... but are the connectors crimped in the right order?
