networking win2k and winxp

At home i have two computers:

one on windows xp and another on 2000 professional.

both boxes connect via linksys router then to the cable modem.

with both connected to the internet is it possible to use the functionality of windows 2000 pro with xp. as in using disk quotas, setting users and passwords ect.?

No, for this you would need Active Directory, but you can't install AD on 2000 Pro. You can only install AD on the Server OS.
