It's there a minium lenth that CAT5 RJ45 Cable can go?

I heard some one tell me that the minium lenth is 1.5 meters. But I have an 8 Port Switch doing uplink to a Router/DSL Modem? And i really do not like the idea of a 1.5 Meter Cable having to go the distance of 30 cm.

I am trying to minimise the "cable farm" behind my PC.

Ok I am from US I have to switch my brain over to metric. lol

I don't think there is a length that is too small for CAT5 cable within reason. I am not an expert either, you want to ask someone else for a second opion. I do know that I am using one that is 60 cm in length and that one works just fine. So I am pretty sure that they don't have to be 1.5 meters.

Nope, there is no 'minimum' length. I have a 4" cable connect my wireless router and a switch.

(To lazy to switch brain to meters today. ;) )

yea i have a 3 foot cable. my brother's computer is on the desk next to mine an i also didn't want to buya massive 7 foot cable.

That is what the Internet is there for. :p ;)

Anyways, I will prolly see if I can get away with just making a small 30cm patch cable later on tonight then.

The back of my desk has enuff power cables with out having to add more confusion with network cables too it.
