I was helping someone install a wireless card after he couldn't get it to work.

Netgear has their own software that windows will not detect.

I first cleared everything - used windows and only installed the drivers. It worked fine - even logged into the encryption. But the router will not give an IP address. (sits at renewing IP)

So I tried using the Netgear software. It connected fine but windows could not get an IP again.

The router is set with DHCP so it should give IPs auto.

THANKS A LOT

Turn off the encryption on the router and add the MAC address of the computer to the access list or turn that off completely. Once connected to the router and Internet access work, re-enable your security features.
