Net connection issue

Every time I reboot my computer or start it up fresh I have to use ipconfig/release then /renew to obtain internet connection. If I don't do that the only other thing that works is unplugging and plugging my modem back in several times.. it is very annoying, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

power everything down. power devices back on in the following order. allow each device to finish its boot process.

modem, router (if any), computer

you can also flash the router and /or modem to the latest greatest firmware.

take the computer to another inet connection, see if the same symtoms exist
