I desperately need a broadband internet connection, but i live in an area where i cannot recieve one. (No cable isp, out of range for DSL, Sattellite cost too much, etc.)

What i am thinking of doing is setting up a DSL account at my grandmother's house (which is about 3 miles away from mine) and then broadcasting it wirelessly to my house.

My questions are:

Is it possible?

What eqiupment do i need?

And the basic steps to getting it done?

Thanks for any help and suggestions in advance.

even IF you broadcast it to your house, the signal and speeds are gonna be even crappier than dial-up probably, if this is even possible

Yes it is very possible.

But it would require very precise methods on doing this.

Option 1: You could either spen $1k on wireless repeaters and place them like every 1,000-2,000 feet.......

Option 2: Get a router that supports an external antenna.
Get 2 onmidirectional parabolic antennas with a 20dB gain.
Have one hooked up to a compliant router w/pigtail.
And have one on your end.
Remember, for optimal connectivity and minimal signal loss, you need these antennas to be within a line of sight. No trees, no building, no mountains....

But all of this is not really worth the effort just to get a WiFi signal 3 miles away.
