Recently my laptop stopped getting internet connection and only has limited connectivity, both wirelessly and connected via ethernet. A week ago it was fine, and suddenly it just stopped getting internet. I'm fairly certain that it's not the router, as my desktop gets wired internet just fine and my Xbox 360 gets wireless internet. On the other hand, I don't think the network card is dead, since I can still connect to the router directly and muck around with the settings. I completely reset the router, hoping that would fix things, and it didn't. Before this happened I was doing to install dd-wrt on it but now I'd rather wait until I get this issue fixed. Any idea where I should get started?

Did you by chance set a static IP on your adapter(s)?

No, everything is dynamic.

Something I just noticed is that in Network Connections (Windows 8), Ethernet says that it is plugged in, but Local Area Connection says that a cable is unplugged.

I am obtaining the DNS server address automatically.
