I have a question regarding LAN connection via ethernet cable, so i will explain my setup.

I have a wireless modem in one room with a laptop, in another room i have a desktop PC and another laptop. Unfortunately this house only has one phone socket, which is in the room with the modem and laptop, and the other laptop is connected to the internet via wireless.

Now the question is, if connect the laptop(one that is connected via wireless) via an Ethernet cable to the desktop computer(it then says i have local access) , is it possible for the desktop to access the internet?

No, the only thing you could do with an ethernet cable is to convert it to a crossover cable to connect two PC's on their own little network - even then it's technically not an ethernet cable but a crossover cable (the cables inside are in a different order).

Just purchase a wifi card for the desktop - you can get PCI one's for as little as 20 bucks online (got my Dlink one for 25 including shipping)
