help with a network

Start off by connecting your laptop directly to the line coming in from the office and do an ipconfig.

i get 198.168.1.104 for an ip

i tried putting the routers ip to 192.168.1.200 and that didn't work and yes i turned off dhcp

Ok im assuming it says the gateway is 192.168.1.1

So if that is the case disconnect from that, and hook into ur wireless router through any port but the wan port. So its just ur pc and the wireless router, and nothing else.

Go into ur router page through IE i think u said it was 192.168.2.1? If its not u can always do another ipconfig from there to check.

in the setup you want to change the router ip to 192.168.1.3 and shut off dhcp.

shut dhcp first cause when u change the ip youll lose the connection.

If your putting the cable in the wan of the wireless router it wont work. put it in one of the numbered ports

wait.. take the internet cord, not the cord from the laptop.. into slot 1-4 ???

Yes nothing should be in the wan port on the 2nd router.

wow sick dude.. thanks.. one last probelm.. i cant get into the wireless settings.. so basically... change all my wireless security before changing the dhcp servcer?

You cant get in when you access the web interface in IE? There should be a wireless option in there somewhere.

yea.. i type in 192.168.1.3 and get nothing
