Connection Problems

Lately my computer has been constantly losing connection to the internet. Signing off aol then signing back on 10 seconds later. I donÂ’t know if itÂ’s the onboard NIC that I got with my new motherboard (DFI NF4) or could it be the cable modem???

You have AOL, self explanatory

Their's a 95% chance it's AOL, it's hard to tell without a LAN though.

AOL as in AOL Instant Messenger my bad...yah im running through a router soo i dont know what the heck is going on..annoying as sh*t

Well we can diagnose from here

Did you see LAN dissconnected (A network cable is unplugged)
What router have you got?
Where you able to ascess the internet thru other programs.

If you want a fast-fix, and this was only with AIM, you could try using an alternate IM program, such as Trillian:

However, there're a lot of others you can use, too.

do you have any firewalls up or anything like peer guardian?

I had a MaCafee Firewall & Antiviruis and uninstalled all of it and got AVG Antiviruis instead and it has been great every sense...now for a new firewall should i get like zonealarm?
