connecting my router?

hi i bought a belkin fsd5231-4 router and cannot install it.
i use the easy install wizard provided but get to the point where it says
"multiple network adapters found, please select your network adapter"
but there is no list to choose from.
i haven't got my router connected to anything whilst installing (not even the power). my pc is connected directly to the modem via usb.
im running windows vista and have a nvidia nforce network controller, if that helps.
im sure the soloution will be really easy and i am missing out something basic, but i have looked almost everywhere and found nothing except "make sure your router is not connected during install."
but as i said its not connected so if you can point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it

Do you mean F5D5231-4? Are you running vista?

EDIT: I see that you are running vista, in that case the easy install wizard will not work properly
