Hello, I have been having some trouble becoming pingable.

I'm not using a firewall and I've configured my router firewall to allow inbound ICMP request/replies which seemed to have fixed my tracert problem (it just "request timed out" all the time).

I've been trying to run a Link Quality test on dslreports.com to check for packet loss, and it says my IP isn't pingable.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
blue

Edit: I'm using a Siemens Gigaset567 router.

The ping worked for me
I would suggest allowing an exception for site dslreports.com as well (in your personal firewall settings)

I uninstalled windows firewall and it still says my ping is unpingable. I also tried a ping test at pingtest.net and I got the same message, although my ping time and jitter have gone down significantly, whether that's even related.

I suspect I'm missing something in the router firewall.

Here's what i put in for the router firewall:
(for some reason none of the buttons work.... so I'll upload it on image shack)

Also does the rule number matter? Because some of the firewall filters are set with high rule numbers and i just used rule 1 and 2 for my ICMP filters.

I usually reset the Router by holding in the tiny reset button with a pin (20 secs will do)
But you then will need to log back into it and set up any Username or Password

Oh, "Windows" firewall, I meant a personal (3rd party) firewall
If you have other live protecting programs installed, you could try uninstalling those as well (not Antivirus though)

Rule number is irrelevant

Try this:

VistaStartButton.jpg
> Search > --> cmd /c ipconfig /all >Desktop\ipconfig.txt < ok>
And then attach the ipconfig.txt log (on your Desktop) as an attachment to a new reply
Pretty sure that works on Vista

Yeah i'm not using any 3rd party firewalls, just an anti virus.

I'm not sure how the ipconfig /all will help , but here it is:

So you are using wireless to test all this
Have you tried direct hard wired ethernet?

Also your wireless has DNS entries, are these entries correct to your Internet Service Provider? Because it looks like no.
You can remove them in TCP/IP settings in Network settings to test if you like
And then run Ipconfig /release and Ipconfig /renew to test
If you cannot get Internet back, just put the DNS entries back in
