Okay I've been wanting to get into the Linux game for a while, but have never had a good connection to download on that wouldn't take me shy of 4 months. I'm hopefully planning on building a computer next summer some time, so the laptop that I have (specs below) I'm planning on using for just Linux. I will have to wait until next summer to make it just Linux, but right now I want to dual boot. So my questions are, which distro of Linux will support all of my hardware. And which (hopefully the same) will be good to start with? Thanks for all your help.

I'm going to look at it right now, and I just ordered some Ubuntu cd's from the link Qiranworms has in the sticky. I don't know if Ubuntu will work, but hey, it's free cd's and I might as well try it out. Would Mandriva work with my laptop?

Yeah Mate,

I Agree with Macdude 425 D/L it, the CD's from Ubuntu will take a Long Time

As with Mandrake, which version do you want to download?, do you have A DVD burner?

I recccomend PCLinuxOS for any user who is wanting to install Mandrake/Mandriva but doesn't want it to take ages. It is just 1 CD and boots as A live CD with An option to install to the HDD

You can D/L it here:

also here are installation instructions

I hope this Helps,

Jake
