hello the programs that come with Ubuntu both dont support mp3's just wondering wat the best player is?

Thanks for anyhelp in advance Zimon

xmms, it has lots of dependencies though, I would think any player would support mp3's, check what libraries are installed on your system, most linux distros support any sound format----->ogg,flac,mp3,wav whatever

i got xmms and it was ziped, then i unziped it and i dont no how 2 set it up :(

well whats it look like?

in the directory created when you unzipped it does it have a Makefile and configure program?

If so, type ./configure, then make, then log in as root, and make install

then type xmms and hit enter and it should run, you will have to add it to a menu or whatever if you want

oh ya, i think ubuntu uses debian packages or something, maybe "apt get", not sure, you should be able to just download and install it without compiling it

check ubuntu's website, I cant keep up with all the linux forks and offshoots anymore, the 4 main distro's are hard enough to keep up with
