Linux Install help

I'm installing Red Hat 9 on an older compaq at the office. After booting up to the CD and starting the linuxvm(?) installer it gets to the Red Hat install graphical screen with the mouse loaded and everything but then nothing, no windows, nothing. I don't work with linux much and can't think of any reason it would be a hardware issue. Any idea's guys?

Try a text mode install and see what happens.Should be a choice when it boots from cd before it actually starts setup.You may get a prompt that says "boot:" then a bunch of text hints above it......I think you type "text" and hit return.

Thanks for the tip horndude. I actually ended up randomly swapping out hardware in frustration and once I tried a new CD drive it worked great.
