Default Wi-Fi dongle not working on my pc, help!

I have 2 TP-Link WN823N USB Wi-Fi dongles and a computer that does not have built-in Wi-Fi capability. I have found that neither of the dongles is recognised by the PC even though the dongles are recognised by other computers and even my raspberry pi. The computer I'm using is a Dell Dimension 5150 and I'm running windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit (although I suspect the cpu is running it in 32 bit mode). I have it connected to the internet via ethernet at the moment so it should be able to find the drivers, but it can't. I've even gone to the TP-Link website and downloaded the driver installer for this model of dongle and it has failed to detect the device.

Any help would be much appreciated

What does Device Manager show when the dongles are plugged into the computer?
