PS3 charging cable

Hi,

At first I was thinking about getting a charging dock they are too expensive for what they do (30 buck). Can almost buy a new ps3 controller with that and have one charging while i'm using the other one...

So I thought maybe I can get a 3M long charging cable?

Am I correct to think that it's just a simple USB 2.0 cable A type to mini 5 pin type B? Or does it have some special capabilities like special protection for the controller or such.

You're right. It's just usb to mini-usb.

Yeah you can use any usb to mini usb. You can find them pretty cheap. Having a second controller is always good. Not only can you charge one while you play with the other, but you can have one just in case you happen to have any friends. (who has those, anyway?)
