xbox ide question, please help

so i've decided to install my xbox in my car, i have taken it apart and am planning on installing the dvd-rom drive up front in my console, and leaving the rest of the equipment in the trunk, the only problem is that i can't find any ide-40 cable long enough to link the two. I've heard that they don't make that cable that long because it won't communicate. I've stopped at a few places, only one person said that, the rest said that they didn't know where to get any of that length, and help is greatly appreciated. thx

well i've got it all working, i had to mount the motherboard and the harddrive under the driver's seat, but it all works great, i found that anything over 5 feet, and the signal starts losing it's reliability. thanks for all the suggestions.
