If you were to develope a game for PC, what are the faults that you would have to take into account that other developers have made?? personaly i think

DO's - Customisation (cars, characters ect.)
- Randomisation (randomly generates maps - only good for some platforms)
- simple controlls

Dont's - Repettitve gameplay (fight-collect-sell-buy, Diablo style.)
- no multiplayer support
- cheats in multiplayer
- have sudden and bad endings.

just to name a few....

One major gripe I have is how foul the language in some games has gotten. I think devs should include an option in which a script with more conservative language is spoken during the single player game. Im not talking about multiplayer. Im saying that the single player scripts are simply ridiculous in how bad the language is.

If youve ever played GTA: SA you would think that some of the characters have speach disorders because of how much they swear...what about violence?? i think most games now are focused too much on violence and for no aparent reson. Again, another example is GTA - im not picking on Rockstar Games, its just the best example i could think of.

A game set in the "hood" wouldn't sound right without the swearing, it's like war games i.e COD2, if a grenade went off beside you you wouldn't say "oh bother!" you'd be saying "f***ing h**l!!" I nearly died. I'm not condoning the over use of profanity but in some games it's needed, like in GTA:SA. But in others the swearing is there just so they can get the adult only rating to boost sales and is totally out of place. But my one "DO" for game devolopment is FINISH THE GAME!!! I'm fed up buying games that are half finished and Atari (I know there publishers) are the worst. Look at Boiling point and Marix Path of Neo just to name a couple, they were so bad I took them back the day after I played them and got my money back! We are all unpaid beta testers and it'd starting to do my head in.

What developers need to do is stop working on sequels and start working on something new for a change. Developers are scared of new games becuase it might fail where as they could make a sequel to an already successful game. Although some sequels have a rapid change in gameplay most of them are just a refresh of graphics with a new function here and there.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is doing a whole lot of new things. The burnout series for instance I've played Burnout Revenge and it's a LOT like Burnout 3, if you never played Burnout 3 then Revenge is an awsome game but I feel that it doesn't offer really anything new to the franchise. Battlefront II is another example where if you've played the first one your going to have some deja vu.

This one game Bioshock which I just read in GameInformer and saw the picks looks like it will bring something different to the FPS department.

Devs need to slow down on graphics develpment and concentrate more on gameplay mechanics and stability.

EXACTLY, stop making graphics that are so taxing you have to upgrade your graphics card every 6 months to play on high settings! Devs aren't even focusing on story anymore in single player campaigns and all they care about is making a graphical showcase such as has not been seen before. Its a trend that started with Far Cry and is destroying PC gaming.

I would like to see new first person shooters with innovative settings not seen before. Its getting tiring every new shooter featuring either the backdrop of WWII or a "Research Center" gone to ****, such as F.E.A.R., Doom 3, Far Cry, Half Life 1/2 etc.

Don't consider 10hrs to be a complete single player game. I could see five two hour movies for half the price of a new game, and if I chew through it that fast then the gameplay is obviously way to weak to have paid that much for. Unlockables that force you to play the game over again only count as 1 extra hour tops.

Do hire a professional writer, voice talent director, and at least one dude who can find the most depraved way of thinking about everything.

Don't hire more than three of the last listed individual. They make sure that you don't accidentally offend anyone, but get too many of them and they will intentionally offend everyone.

i can understand what dhw200 is saying about the languages issue. but its basically the same thing when "rock music" or "full nude pornography" was taboo back then. im very liberal side about this. i think its totally fine to use foul language in games. just like violence in games. or even in movies. it all depends on how the person takes it. if u or any conservatives think violent games influence ppl to commit more crimes or something, its total BS to me. look how many violent movies and games comes from japan. and japan has one of the lowest crime rate in the world. so its got to be theres other problems than freakin video games. anyway, in recent game dev's goal is to make it as realistic as possible. (in terms of graphix and game play) even in futuristic or fantasy games. basically its called virtual reality. this is the trend of games at the moment. and itll continue on. but the other hand, itll be kinda scary when the games become so realistic that u dont see the diff bet. games and real life. well, that might gonna be a problem to some ppl.. not me though :)

This basically means for the time being we will have to continue to upgrade our graphics cards at least once if not twice per year to keep playing on max settings. This trend will come to an end though, it has to...just like other trends in PC gaming have come and gone.
