People whining on /r/Oculus about the price. Apparently $599 is too expensive for state of the art tech. I mean, $599 gets you this:

• Custom hybrid fresnel lenses.
• Custom Samsung AMOLED screens with no Mura, low SDE, 90hz, 2ms low persistence, global update, zero black smear.
• High end IR LED tracking camera with custom housing on a very sturdy metal base and stand
• High end integrated audio with custom and matched DAC, AMP and drivers.
• Rift is wrapped in a new flexible IR transparent, plastic fabric
• Oculus Remote for easy access to common controls during media consumption
• A 'dope' carrying case (see below)
• Xbox One controller + Wireless adapter
• Two full games: Eve Valkyrie + Luckys Tale

They could have done away with the controller and games and it would have been way closer to the DK2 pricing IMO.

The problem is when the DK2 was released they were on the record for saying the consumer version would be around $350 but a little more so in the $350 ballpark

$599 is almost double the "ballpark". And people not in the US are getting royally ****ed.

Also, $50 shipping? Come on can't even give people free shipping
