ok so whenever i go to play a clip on windows media player or play a dvd on a dvd program the videos seem to be way to bright and washed out.I've messed with all the controls in the applications themselves and it hasnt done anything and i dont know what is causing this.Can you guys help me!!

I had that same problem.
It was derived from setting my system performance to "Adjust for better performance" instead of appearance. Once I changed it to custom and started messing around with the options in WMP and WinAmp, It corrected the problem.
The settings in both apps are in really weird places.
I wish i still remembered where they were.
I would start with your system properties.
