Problem with speakers/sound?

All of a sudden yesterday for no reason we can think of, the inbuilt speakers on my sisters computer stopped working. Earlier yesterday (a few hours before it stopepd working) the speakers were working fine. We did not do anything.

Any ideas?

Do external speakers work?

No I don't have any external speakers but I did try headphones which I attached to the onboard sound card, not the speakers. The only way I could hear was pressing the headhones really hard into my ear.

So that must mean the sound is turned right down on the sound card correct? If yes, hwo to I turn it up?

come to think of it, I think it stopped working after updating my windows computer from the windows update website...

try another speaker, if that works, then this one probably died out or something

Like I said, the only way I could hear was pressing the headhones really hard into my ear. And I could hardly here it then.

I also tried some headphoens that work perfectly on another pc and I heard nothing on the problem pc...
