NAS computer and media

I have an old computer laying around and a few harddrives so I thought, why not, ill make it into a NAS device.
I have a few questions if yall wouldnt mind helping me out.
1) I often play movies on my laptop but the harddrive is full now on it. Could I stream movies from the NAS over wifi to my laptop?

Yes... But, I suggest not trying 1080 over wireless or with slow/dated drves.
