DVD ripping

Hey, I've got a season of 24 on dvd and I want to rip this to my hard drive in an avi file. I want to be able to rip each episode individually.

What are some decent and fast programs that can do this?

While we're at it (I expect this thread doesn't have a long life otherwise) I'd like to know how to do it the other way around.

I've downloaded a season of 24 episodes of The Fresh Prince and I want to burn them to DVD so I can play them on my DVD player, they're xvid codec in avi format. Apparently I can't just burn and play them.

Calem, I'm pretty sure you can rip DVDs with a program like Nero.

Ive simply done that using Nero 7 Ultra, and it has worked fine for me.

Another great program for converting avi's to dvd is Convertxtodvd.
