the new dual layer recordable dvd's are only in +r format, and I think maybe you can only find 8x/12x dvd's in +R format too. My personal preference is -R because it tends to work better in older home dvd players when you make/copy movies. I don't mind using only 4x or 6x

actually the +R's are compatible with more home DVD players, so i believe they are better

this question has started many wars on the internet.

the best one is the one that works for you the best

The quality of the DVD MEDIA itself plays a more important function than either + or -.

Whichever DVD format you use, someone will NOT be able to play it correctly regardless of the format (or indeed the media).

so it is better t use the DVD-R version?

but what are the main differences between DVD-R and DVD+R version?

Pioneer (or phillips) Invent one. Sony the other

it was like when dvd first came out

there were 2 formats. sony and toshiba

both played movies but they were imcompatable with each other.
the electronic people made them agree on one format (that why DVD got realease 2 years late) so we would have another vhs vs beta war. toshiba won

al least they will play on the same dvd players for the most part
