Does Pro Tools need a certain sound card in order to work?

I just recently purchased Pro Tools online. I heard that Pro Tools needs its company sound card (digidesign) in order to work; and any other sound card will cause the program not to run. Is this true?

You must have digidesign, or "m-powered" hardware installed and plugged in before ProTools will run.

Well I just bought it for $260, could you give me a link to some stores that sell the brand of sound cards Digidesign needs for Pro Tools to run.
