Default s-ata and other

i dont understand the difference between s-ata hard disks and what the othertype is... i have a 30 gig ibm hard disk and i want to buy a extra 20 gig disk... i have a gigabite GA-8IEXP mobo will is suport an sata disk? how can i find out?

also with ram will this board suport ddr ram or not?? if u have some ddr and some not ddr will it still work?
